Woven Roses Needle Minder

Materials Required to make 1 (one) needle minder book:

  • 1 sheet of 7 count mesh plastic canvas (10.5 inch by 13.5 inch)

  • 12 yards white yarn (worsted weight or yarn #4 size)

  • 12 yards green yarn (worsted weight or yarn #4 size)

  • 7 yards yellow yarn (worsted weight or yarn #4 size)

  • Green embroidery floss

  • White sewing thread

  • White Craft Felt

 

Tools Needed:

·        Tapestry needle

·        Scissors



Instructions:

  1. Cut out plastic canvas shapes as per diagram. The overall size of front and back piece is 26 holes high by 17 holes wide, spine is 26 holes high by 6 holes wide.

2. Using green, yellow, and white yarn, fill in the tent stitches, woven wheel stitches and straight stitches as per diagram below:

  1. Using embroidery floss, fill in straight and the lazy daisy stitches as per diagram below


    Using white yarn, fill in the white tent stitches around the roses as per diagram below


  1. Using the overcast stitch, finish the top and bottom edges of all pieces in white or green yarn.


5. Using the overcast stitch, finish the top edge of the front and back pieces in white

 yarn.

 

6. Whipstitch the left front side edge and the right side edge of the back piece to each side of the spine to create a book

 

7. Using sewing thread, complete your project by backstitching the piece of felt onto the inside of the book as per photo shown:
